columbus bilateral

This is a columbus bilateral which over the years has lost it's pendulum weight at the right side. With some rings I provisionally made a proper pendulum. The base had several corroded spots. I treated this. The anti corrosion agent also removed partly the black enamel. The two weighing ranges are 250 and 1000 grams. More extensive information about this type of letter scale of Philipp Jakob Maul was presented already at a smaller columbus bilateral. This scale doesn't have a mark of Maul at all. Still this specimen is most likely a scale made by Ph.J. Maul. Below some more pictures of this letter scale.
