This scale, named Recipe Scale, was produced in the colours white, light purple, yellow and red. Maybe still other colours were made also. Some specimens carry the model name "Recipe scale" on the chart at the front, and have recipes printed on both sides of the scale. On the top of the plate was a round sticker with an advertising text. The specimens shown here don't have these texts. The scale has some odd ranges: 8 pounds subdivided per two ounces, and also 3½ kilograms with a stripe of measure per 50 grams, and finally a division in cups of butter or shortening, probably a unit used in recipes. The design dates from 1948. Below some more pictures of this bright coloured scale.
