The housing of this letter scale is a one piece part made by injection moulding. The postal rates are printed on the metal plate. They are dated January 1, 1952. The scale bears the name Hanson Jr and it's model 1516. The scale is almost identical to Hanson Jr model 158, only the weighing range realised has doubled to 16 ounces. The design was protected with an American Design patent: Des. 166,856. This patent was granted to Stan B. Hanssen and Lucille E. Hanssen on May 27, 1952. The scale presented on the two figures of the patent is completely identical to the real scale, therefore the figures are omitted here.
