the Lorraine scale | This little letter scale has a chart with side by side five categories of postal rates. The chart up to 16 ounces, is subdivided per half ounce. A domestic letter costs 2c per oz., this rate was valid from 1919 till 1932. A letter abroad was 5c for the first oz., every extra ounce costs 3c extra. I don't have a specification of the years in which this rate was valid. The scale is made from chromed tin. The round hole in the bottom plate is typical.
