Crescent scale
This Crescent letter scale is a somewhat more modern version. Earlier an older Crescent has been presented. The scale is mounted on a heightened base and the housing is made totally closed. The rate for letters is 3c for 1 oz. This was valid in the period 1932-1958 and also earlier from 1917 till 1919. An airmail letter took 6c per oz. This rate was valid in the period 1949-1955 and also earlier from 1934 till 1944. The scale probably dates from the period 1949-1955 and maybe even a bit earlier from 1934-1944. Perhaps with rates information from one of the other categories the determination of the date could be made with a higher certainty. The housing and the base are painted gold. The bottom has 4 dates of patents. The patent of June 2, 1896 is the most important. Below some more photos of this scale.
