This is a little letter scale of German origin. The most likely maker is Ph.J. Maul. At the bottom of the base are the capitals BB and IB and a large figure 3 stamped in, or pressed in. The chart of 60 grams has a stripe of measure per five grams. The value 15 grams is indicated separately. The base has copper colored bands. I don't know the purpose or goal of these bands. The brass vertical frame is fixed at the cast iron base by means of a simple nut at a threaded end of the frame. The letter scale has a magnetic iron indicator. The scale can be tuned to zero by rotating the brass leveling screw. Below some more pictures of this little scale.
