letter scale with ink-well | This letter scale together with a little ink-well, is mounted on a small tree trunk. The scale measures in ounces, this indicates the letter scale was made for the American market. The range is two ounces. Looking at the design, it is most probably a letter scale made in Germany. The text DÉPOSÉ is stamped in a strip of the mechanism. This tells us the design was registered. The glass ink-well is covered by a funny shaped hinged brass cover. On the front of the trunk two little rests for a pen holder are mounted. For the pictures I put a holder with a crown shaped nib onto these rests. Below some more pictures of this odd desk set made of a tree trunk with an ink-well and a letter scale. |
