LETTER BALANCE

This sturdy letter scale originated from Great Britain. The letter balance was produced by Precision Engineering Co., (Reading) Ltd.. The trade mark is Waymaster. Stated on the dial of this letter scale is "British made". The capacity of 24 ounces is subdivided per ¼ ounce by stripes of measure. The base and housing are aluminum made. The iron top plate of this scale is more or less rectangular. Oval shaped plates also exist. A plate with the postal rates could be attached on the top plate by screws. This postal rates plate could be changed easily in case of new rates. The letter scale has a characteristic green color. "Royal Mail" red specimens exist as well. Slightly different models do have housing and base made of steel plate. More recent Waymaster models have a plastic housing. Below some more pictures of the Waymaster Letter balance.
