 This handheld scale originated from East Germany, the former German Democratic Republic (GDR). I was informed this scale dates from 1980. Elsewhere this same design is dated several decades older. The chart of 50 grams has a stripe of measure per gram. The scale is partly made of aluminum, partly made of chrome plated tin. To weigh a letter it is first clamped in the crocodile clip.
