letter scale No. 18 | This little letter scale was made by George Salter & Co. Ltd., West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England. The capacity is 8 ounces, subdivided per ¼ ounce. The British inland postal rates for letters printed at the chart were valid in the period October 1 1957 till May 17 1965. Five different designs of the Salter No. 18 were made in a period of about sixty years. This design of the Salter No. 18 is relatively young, it was introduced in the fifties. Already in 1901 The first version of the Salter No. 18 was produced. Besides these designs special designs exist: the egg scale No. 18E, E is the abbreviation of Egg, and the dietary scale No. 18D, D is the abbreviation of Dietary.
