M.M. & S. letter scale | This The Challenge spring letter balance is made by Meyer Myers & Son Limited from Birmingham, England. The Birmingham Pen Trade Heritage Association provided more information about the firm M.M.&S. The factory mainly produced steel pen nibs for writing in ink. The firm was established in 1837. In 1914 it became a Limited Liability firm. After WW2 they made office equipment. The trade mark has been used since 1905, and appears in the catalogue of 1920. The box of this scale shows the number 1061. The packing also presents the name of the model: The Challenge. This name can't be found at the scale itself. The capacity is 1 Lb, or 16 ounces.
