Magic egg scale, maker National Poultry Equipment Company | This egg scale originates from the U.S.A.. The text MAGIC SCALE is at the edge of the egg holder. This egg grader is made by National Poultry Equipment Company, Seattle, Washington. More information about National Poultry egg graders is given in North American Egg Scales - from ABC to Zenith by Charley Amsbaugh. This is the aluminum version. Later also a plastic version was produced. The design was made by Ellis E. Powell and on September 7, 1937 granted with an American Design Patent Des.105,970. The actual poise differs from the one on the drawings of the design patent. The oval poise is a more attractive shape compared to the plain hex nut of the patent drawings. | the egg scale seen from the other side |
I don't know if a leaflet came with the egg grader. It is also unknown whether the egg scale came in a box with instructions. The parts are made of cast aluminum. The tilt axes (= knife edge bearings) are secured with screwed-on brass plates. Here the egg scale is screwed on a wooden board. The aluminum bottom is completely flat.
