letter scale

This small letter scale has the text GRAMM at the chart. This letter scale was bought in Germany, I doubt it was actually designed and produced there. A bowed front is common on many American letter scales. The design of Gilfillan made in 1896 has many followers. A nice feature of this design is that the back is also bowed. The letter scale is mounted on a dignified glass base. This glass base is standing on four beautiful feet. The scale of measure is equal on both sides of the groove. The first stripe of measure after the value zero is at 15 grams. At one time this was a postal weight limit for the German Inland Mail also. Below some more pictures of this majestic little letter scale.
