pocket letter scale Brief Taxeur | This pocket letter scale has a cylindrical housing of nickel-plated brass. The cap clamps mildly on the actual scales part and hides the letter clip. This letter clip is attached to a round wooden rod. A steel tension spring pulls the wooden rod inwards. When weighing and loaded it ensures an equilibrium. The scale on the black wooden rod goes up to 50 grams and has a stripe of measure for each gram. At the top of this scale is printed in the old spelling "BRIEFWAGE". Therefore I presume this pocket scale was made in Germany. On the opposite side is printed "BRIEF TAXEUR PATENT". I still have not found this patent. It's a compact little letter scale: the maximum diameter is 9 millimeters. The maximum length, the cap included, is 108.8 millimeters, without the cap it's 109.0 millimeters, the scale extends a little. The weight of this letter scale is 12.0 grams. Previously an even shorter version was presented, see Brief Taxeur. On the web I saw a second one with the same name: Brief Taxeur Patent. It was complete with a little red box with printed in golden letters the text: D.R.G.M. BRIEF-TAXEUR PATENT. Also it was offered complete with a loose user manual written in German, French, Czech and English. On a photo of this leaflet I could read "Brevet belge" and "D.R.G.M. Patent" and "Brevete s.g.d.g.". The box also had a name sticker of a shop in Berlin. | weighing a letter |
