Guerin-Brimac egg scale | This special egg scale is from France. The house of the egg scale has casted in the front and in the back the brandname and logo: GUERIN-BRIMAC. The house is casted brown Bakelite. A green Bakelite version exists as well. The scale mechanism is the well known parallelogram with a counterweight. At the start and at the end the mechanism is stopped by a resilient stop. The mark Guerin-Brimac is unknown to me. In 1849 one René Guérin patented a letter scale in France. I don't know whether or not there exists a connection between that Guerin and this egg scale. The name Brimac is fully unknown to me. This egg scale model can be found at the established French firm Testut. In their 1965 catalog this egg scale (in French: pèse-oeufs) is shown at page 300 with the product number 816, and was only available in the color white. There the scale house shows of course the brandname Testut. It is unclear what the relation was between Testut and Guerin-Brimac. The egg scale has a range of 100 grams. The scale has a stripe of measure per every two grams. The scale is easy to read. On the right there is a knob to set the egg scale to zero first before weighing. Instead of an egg cup this egg scale has a four-armed egg holder. It is a little easier to lift an egg from such a holder. | back of the egg scale |
