R. Bischoff letter scale

This large letter scale with a height of 50 centimeters originates from R. Bischoff from Munich in Germany. This scale has two weighing ranges in Gramm. The special feature here is that the inner scale ends at 250 grams and the outer scale starts at 250 grams. Each gram up to 500 grams has its stripe of measure. The scale has a large flip-over counterweight. The letter scale has two knife-edge bearings: the main bearing and also the suspension bracket of the hanging scale part has a knife-edge bearing. It takes a very long time to finish scale movements. Previously another Bischoff was presented, see V. Bischoff, there is some more background information. The scale parts are bearing the number 6479, that number is also on the scale. This embodiment has, instead of the wire with a small brass weight, a spirit level to assist in setting the scale level. To avoid damaging the counter surface the adjusting screws press against a separate thin plate. One of the leveling screws is not original. This letter scale also has verification stamps. The meaning of the abbreviation P.W. on the scale is still unclear.
