Bizerba-ASE egg scale
Bizerba-ASE egg grading scale

This is a particularly rare egg grading scale. According to the logo on the front and on the back, this egg scale is from Bizerba-ASE. This logo, with the ASE-circle just going through the line under the name Bizerba was used by Bizerba in the years 1936-1950. Bizerba Grösste Deutsche Schnellwaagenfabrik, is located in Balingen, in Württemberg in Germany. According to the text on the scale plate this egg grading scale was made by August Sauter, Ebingen in Württemberg in Germany. The egg scale has identification number 50193. This egg grading scale was already verified and calibrated in 1942. The most recent year of verification was 1965. The firm August Sauter has received a patent on this Eiersortierwaage in 1938. The special feature is the use of an air damper. The actual egg scale differs significantly from the design shown in the patent drawings. The pointer moves from left to right on the incremental scale. The scale values range from 40 to 75 grams. Above the gram scale are the egg weight classes: Aussort. (aussortiert = sorted out, too light), D, C, B, A, and S. Left next to the scale house is a lead layer for the minting of the verification marks. Right of the scale house is the 50 grams control weight situated in a recess. This weight is secured in this place by wire springs. Central in the front is a spirit level as an aid for properly positioning the egg scale. The two leveling feet are down left and right on the corner of the base plate. The air damper is adjusted by turning the screw which controls the air flow opening. This screw is only accessible after removing the scale house. The height of the egg scale is 24.3 centimeters, the sizes of the base plate are 20.3 x 14.3 cm. The own weight is 3.3 kilograms.
