Testut letter scale

This letter scale is made by TESTUT Société Anonyme from Paris in France. The firm aluminum house holds the well-known parallelogram scale mechanism. At the beginning and end the movement is stopped by a springwire.
The letter scale has a bright colored scale. The front of the letter scale presents the postal rates in French Francs for France and the French Union in columns next to the grams scale. There are rates for letters, parcels, printed matter and invoices. And also how much extra registered sending costs. These postal rates were valid in the short period from July 7, 1957 until January 1, 1959.
This letter scale is shown in the Testut catalog of 1965 on page 299.
The scale of 350 grams has a stripe of measure per 10 grams. The letter scale, in French this is pèse-lettres, rests on two fixed rubber feet and on one adjustable rotatable metal knob. With this knob, situated at the lower right side, the unloaded letter scale can be adjusted to zero in case its standing on a slanting surface.
This Testut is much firmer and less vulnerable than this bakelite Testut.
