Salter No. 18E egg scale
Salter No. 18E egg scale

This Salter egg scale has the same housing as the previously shown Salter No. 18 letter scale. The traditional spring adjusting screw is missing. The zeroing is done by shifting the scale. The weighing range is 4 ounces. The four English egg weight classes are shown on the left:
- Small (1 ½ - 1 5/8 oz)
- Medium (1 5/8 - 1 7/8 oz)
- Standard (1 7/8 - 2 ¼ oz)
- Large (> 2 ¼ oz)
This classification of egg weight classes is no longer valid.
In documentation this plastic plastic Salter egg scale No. 18E can be found in a Salter catalog from 1965-1968. There are also Salter No. 18E egg scales with a metal housing with small differences in appearance, dating back to the 1939-1957 period. The egg scale has a special mechanism with leaf springs and a wound compression spring. The scale height is 11.5 centimeters.
Below some more pictures of the Salter No. 18E egg scale.
