letter scale, maker Ph.J. Maul, Germany | This letter scale was made by Philipp Jacob Maul from Hamburg in Germany. The scale is self-adjusting, the scale is rotatably suspended on the same axis on which the indicator rotates. The weighing range is 100 grams. The scale has a stripe for each gram. Moreover, there is an even finer distribution per ½ gram. At the bottom edge, the scale is divided with a black and white checkered belt per five grams. The position of the enamel scale is slightly slanted to facilitate reading. The scale is monogram, e.g. there is only one weighing range on the scale. Also at the right on the scale is stated D.R.G.M.. There would be a cheap patent, a D.R.G.M., on this scale. As mentioned before, I have not been able to find the patent. According to the price sticker at the bottom of this letter scale the seller was the Hohenlo'sche Buchhandlung F. Rau from Öhringen in Baden-Württemberg in Germany and the price of the scale was 8,70 DM. This bookstore started in 1876 and still exists in 2018. | back of the scale |
