photography balance No.12A, maker Johnsons of Hendon | This balance was made by Johnsons of Hendon in London, England for photographers with their own darkroom. This balance is intended to weigh the right amount of chemicals and was delivered from the early fifties to the mid-sixties. The balance is in the catalogs of 1952-1953, 1959 and 1964-1965 Maurice Fisher emailed me. The metal parts are nickel-plated. The set shown here has weights in grams, 375 grams in total. The standard English set has weights in ounces, 12 ounces in total. These photography balances became superfluous because the suppliers of chemical products supplied handy quantities of pre-packaged developer, fixer and the like. | back of the balance |
