Zweigle yarn scale | This yarn scale was made by Zweigle KG. Fabrik für Textilprüfmaschinen und Geräte, from Reutlingen in Germany. The yarn fineness is indicated, inter alia, in grams per 1000 meters of yarn (unit of tex) or meters of yarn per gram (unit of Nm). This scale has a measurement error limit of less than 1%. The measurement was described in the German standard DIN 60906. (Neigungswaagen für die Garnfeinheitsbestimmung (Garnsortierwaagen)). The most recent DIN 60906 dates from June 1, 1996. A certain length of yarn is hung on the hook and the value is read. An extra push-on weight enables measurements with other yarn lengths. Here it is 50 meters (A) or 10 meters (B) without the extra weight. With the extra push-on weight it will be 250 meters (A) or 50 meters (B). The scale shows the relationship between gram, tex and thread length. This Zweigle has at the foot of the stand a lever to slow down the scale movement and to be able to make a quicker reading. The scale is up to 89 cm high at the suspension hook. |
