Monograd letter scale, Ph.J. Maul | This small letter scale is made by Philipp Jakob Maul from Hamburg in Germany. It is a self-adjusting scale with a better readable scale, the Concav scale. The scale is a Monograd, just one weighing range. Also there is D.R.G.M. bottom right on the scale, that means Deutsches Reich Gebrauchs Muster, there would be a model protection on this scale, which is faster and cheaper than a patent. I do not know it. The scale has several subdivisions: per five grams with number and black and white checkered bottom edge, per every ½ gram value, ie at ½, 1½, 2½, 3½, 4½, et cetera. And per whole gram, ie at 1, 2, 3, 4, et cetera. The text in the aluminum letter plate is: NIET VOOR HANDELSDOELEINDEN translated: NOT FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES, this letter plate was intended for letter scales to be used in the Netherlands. At the bottom of the letter plate is a sticker of Gerco from Deventer (Netherlands). That was a book and paper trade, which also sold office, school and writing supplies. | back of the letter scale |
