equal-arm balance by Dey & Sons | This equal-arm balance is made by Dey & Sons, I suspect from India or maybe Pakistan. On the balance beam is a D&S logo and the company name. The English indication for the weighing range is also on it: Class B to weigh 200g. On the opposite side, probably the same is written in a language I don't know. In the middle of the balance beam there is a round lead mark in which the year 1984 is probably stamped as 84. Whether this is a calibration stamp, I do not know. The balance is mounted on a cabinet with a drawer containing eight brass weights with the TOLA unit of measurement. BULION is also stamped on the weights of 5, 3 and 2 Tola. These three weights have a countersunk hole on the bottom filled with some lead. The smaller weights do not have a recessed hole on the bottom. The remaining weights are 1, ½, ¼, 1/8 and 1/16 Tola. | back of balance |
