This letter balance was made by the company Gottlieb Kern & Sohn from Ebingen in Germany. In Kern's documentation, the scale is described as a replica of a scale from the beginning of the 20th century. I have never seen an image of the original scale on which this replica is based.
The figure represents Fortune, the goddess of happiness, also called the goddess of abundance or the goddess of wealth. The scale is listed in the Kern documentation from the years 1984 to 1990.
The wooden base with the 8 brass weights and the balance itself are completely the same as the version used with another Kern replica, see the 500 Jahre Post letter scale.
The weights are zijn 50g - 20g - 2x 10g - 5g - 2x 2g and 1g, together 100 grams. The balance arm shows the Kern logo and the 100 gram weighing capacity. The height is 24 centimeters, the wooden base is 20 x 11 centimeters. The Fortune statue is probably made of cast resin and sprayed in the gold bronze color.
Below some more images of this graceful goddess Fortune letter scale.
