STS Samuel Turner Senior letter & egg balance
This balance from England is a combined letter and egg scale. On the base of the balance on the left there are five weights in a recess. The greatest weight is 2 ounces. The four smaller weights, 1 ounce, ½ ounce, and two differently shaped weights of ¼ ounce, together are also 2 ounces. The five weights add up to 4 ounces. The STS trademark of Samuel Turner Senior is on the balance arm at the rear right on the inside of the balance arm. The aluminum weighing platform has two markings. At the front is the logo of Samuel Turner Sr. The text EGG & LETTER BALANCE surrounds the STS logo. At the back there is a round marking with REGD 721285 in the weighing platform. This registered design number dates from 1926. The aluminum weighing platform has an egg-shaped dimple. An egg lies stable in it. The other balance parts are made of brass.
