letter scale with a three-compartment stamp box | This letter scale is combined with a three-compartment stamp box on a common base. The lid of the box is made of thick glass with beveled edges that are set in a metal frame. The lid has a snap closure. There is a felt layer on the bottom. The weighing range is here in Grammes [France]. There are copies in Gramm [Germany] and in Ounces [England]. The original scale had completely disappeared. By placing weights on the scale, I marked a scale on paper, measured it and then drew the scale lines in a CAD program. Then I applied numbers and letters with a photo editing program. Then I printed the file on thick photo paper and cut out the scale with a scalpel. The weighing range is 100 grams and the scale is subdivided per five grams. The value per ten grams is shown in numbers on the scale. The diameter of the letter plateau is 4.5 centimeters. The base is 15.2 cm wide and 7.2 cm deep. The letter scale is 8.1 cm high. The weight of this chrome-plated letter scale with stamp box is 436 grams. | back of the letter scale |
