This is in fact a herbs scale. This specimen misses a zero leveling screw. The scale has the text: DEPOSE engraved. This indicates the scale -or the design- is registered. At other scales it is spelled also as DEPOSÉ or, with stripes above both E's, DÉPOSÉ. The base of the frame has remarkable red copper colored stripes. These stripes are at different European and American scales. I still don't know the meaning of the stripes. The range of this scale is 200 grams. At the scale made of presumably pewter, the value 15 grams is given separately. In Germany the inland rate limit of 15 grams was replaced by a limit of 20 grams on April 1 1900 already. Internationally the limit of 15 grams was finally abolished not until January 1 1922 in a World Postal Treaty.

The 200 grams scale has a division stripe per 5 grams. Figures are presented only for the values of 0, 15, 20, 50, 100, 150 and 200 grams. Below some more photos of this nice scale.
