This Fertig letter scale is made by the company Philipp Jakob Maul from Hamburg in Germany. This copy differs in details from the previously shown 500 grams Fertig. More information about letter scales based on the Fertig-System can be found at this page 350 grams Fertig.
Some detail differences between the two 500 grams versions are shown below in some animations. The letter scale is self-adjusting, this is a feature of the Fertig-System, and has two scales. The top scale from zero to 150 grams has a stripe per gram. The lower scale ranges from zero to 500 grams and is subdivided per five grams with dashes. Dutch Postal Rates from the short period from September 1, 1937 to August 20, 1940 are printed on the letter plate. This Fertig is 29 centimeters high with the counterweight folded down. With the counterweight folded up, the height is 28 centimeters.
