letter scale from England | This model letter scale or postal balance does not seem special, but it is. The unknown maker favored reuse or simply was frugal. On the original letter plate, the English postal rates are valid from November 1, 1915 to June 3, 1918. The new postal rates of 3 June 1918 have been put on the reverse of the letter plate and so the letter plate was still used. This new English letter postal rate was only valid until June 1, 1920. This letter scale was sold after June 1918 at the earliest. The wooden base stands on four strange angular feet. The scale height is 10 cm, the base is 20 x 12 cm. The weight plate is 4.4 cm round, the letter plate measures 6.2 x 7.7 cm. This scale comes with five calibrated weights: 4 oz, 2 oz, 1 oz, ½ oz and ¼ oh,. The weights have a calibration mark on the bottom. On the balance arm is the text WARRANTED ACCURATE. | back of the letter scale |
