Arca letter and parcel scale, maker Jakob Maul | This is the largest Arca scale made by Jakob Maul from Bad-König-Zell in Germany. This version is in a catalog from about 1980. It is a letter scale combined with a parcel scale. To switch from letter to parcel function, there is a pull switch on top of the scale housing. There is also the rotary knob to set the letter scale to zero. The letter measuring scale goes up to 125 grams and has a stripe of measure for each gram. The parcel measuring scale starts with stripes at 0.1 kg and goes up to 10 kilograms and has a stripe per 100 grams. On the dial is the JM logo by Jakob Maul. At the front of the metal scale house is pressed: Arca 10 kg. On the back of the scale house it says: NOT FOR TRADE PURPOSES. The scale mechanism has, see the photos, two tension springs, for the parcel function the heavy spring must be tightened with the pull switch. The photos show the mechanism sufficiently. The nickel-plated letter platform is 17.5 by 12.5 centimeters. The scale is 20.5 cm high. The base measures 18.0 by 10.0 cm. | back of this Arca scale |
