![]() Sauter precision scale Nr. 1068 | This precision scale was made by August Sauter, from Ebingen in Germany. The letter scale can be found as Nr. 1068 in the Sauter catalog of 1951. The equal-armed balance is mounted in an oak box. The lid can be folded up and is fixed in the slot of a screw by the end of a drag arm on the left. The top plate is lacquered black. The white top surface of the lid is made of a translucent plastic. The balance is lifted from the rest position with a rotary knob at the front of the box. On the left and right, the balance has separate round nickel-plated dishes for the weights and the material to be weighed. The weighing capacity is 100 grams and the sensitivity is 10 milligrams. A gold colored ASE logo is stamped on the right side of the front of the box. Under the rotary knob is a metal name plate from August Sauter KG. from Ebingen in Württemberg, with the ASE logo in the middle. (KG is de abbreviation of Kommanditgesellschaft, a limited partnership). A set of weights is a must for using this precision balance in a laboratory or pharmacy. Below the photos of the precision scale | ![]() the precision scale with closed lid |
are photos of such a weight set, also from the company August Sauter. The storage box of this weight set has the Sauter nameplate on the lid and the gold-colored ASE logo is also on the front of the box. (With felt-tip pen, the lid of the storage box vaguely says: Eichgewichte, that is German, translated is that calibration weights, or better calibrated weights).
Below are some more images of this Sauter precision scale and a matching set of weights.
