MYTHOLOGICAL FIGUREmaker and country of origin unknown |
letter scale, unknown maker | This letter scale is extremely rare. I do not know who the maker is, the country of origin is probably Germany. The figure on the foot of the scale seems mythological, but who or what it represents I do not know yet. It looks a bit like a griffin but lacks the typical bird beak, it looks a bit like a dragon head, there are also some features of Cerberus. I lack sufficient mythological knowledge to make a clear determination. The cast brass stand is special and richly decorated in detail. The brass scale of measure is nickel-plated, the nickel layer has some wear spots. The weighing range is 60 grams, between 10 and 20 grams there is a stripe of measure per gram. Below and above that per 5 grams. The base of the scale measures 9.0 x 6.5 centimeters, the scale is 20.0 cm high, the letter tray is 5.5 cm round. | back of the letter scale |
