![]() letter scale with counterweight sphere | The maker of this letter scale is unknown to me, there is no logo or name on it. Only on the underside of both cast iron frame parts the number 2 is cast. The scale probably comes from Germany, probably Ph.J. Maul is the maker because the frame still has the characteristic copper-colored zones on the cast iron frame, which are still very vaguely visible. The measuring scale is nickel-plated. It is striking that this measuring scale and the two strips are made from one plate, the upper short arm of the parallelogram is also part of the same plate. Usually the measuring scale is fastened with rivets to loose strips of the weighing mechanism. The 150 gram scale has a stripe of measure for every five grams. The spherical counterweight is striking. This weighing mechanism has already been shown on this website, see here, that letter scale stands on a round wooden decorative base. | ![]() back of the letter scale |
