letter scale

The scale presented here is a heavier specimen of the one described in detail at FERTIG. This specimen has a bowl in stead of a plate. This bowl is too heavy and is most certainly not original. The pictures show a rather filthy scale. The chart of 500 grams has a stripe per five grams. Characteristic of the Fertig is that the indicator is suspended freely rotatable on it's own pendulum arm. The axis is the same as the one for the mechanism and chart. At the indicator arm is the abbreviation DRP. This means: Deutsches Reichs Patent. This patent, with number 228054, dates from 1910. Below some more pictures of this letter scale.
