black RICTUS | This black version of the Rictus has something odd: the front and side are enamelled in a matt black structure. The rear is lacquered in plain smooth shiny black. The range is 500 grams. The name of the model and the D.R.P. number 384478 are distinctly at the front. For more extensive information about this design, read at: RICTUS. Stamped at the back is the M-logo of Ph.J. Maul. The combi-picture below shows clearly that I restored the chart substantially. Firstly, some drops of black paint were put on the scale. This paint was spread evenly with the edge of a hard plastic identity card. In this process the paint nicely fills the grooves on the chart. After drying the brass surface was cleaned with brass polish. Up to 100 grams each gram has it's own stripe of measure. | rear of the scale |

Above 100 grams there's a stripe per ten grams. Each area of ten grams is divided in half by a chequered band at the lower edge of the chart. Small arrow-heads aimed at the figures, are added to the stripes at some values. Below some more pictures showing details of this letter scale.
