This handheld letter scale was made by Triner, USA. It was delivered in a cardboard box, together with a plastic cover and a leaflet with instructions and a list with the postal rates. This list gives the rates for sending letters in the period of August 1 1958 until January 7 1963. The same design also exist of other makers such as Pelouze and Accura. Also these pocket scales exist with a commercial print for instance United States Postal Service and Canadian Mist. They show only minor differences in the letter clip and the holding ring. The capacity of this model is 4 oz. The chart shows a stripe per one eighth of an ounce up to one ounce. Above 1 ounce up to 2 ounces, there is a stripe per quarter ounce. Also a stripe is given at 2½ ounce. Above this also at 3 and at 4 oz. A Triner in gold finish was presented in the catalog of 1963. I still don't know the date of the design and of the patent, if any. Below some more pictures of this Triner pocket scale. | Triner handheld scale |
