This is the smallest Columbus bilateral made by Philipp Jakob Maul from Hamburg, Germany. The range at the lower scale is 0 up to 20 grams. The upper scale ranges from 20 to 60 grams. Engraved at the front of the mechanism are two German patent numbers and one Austrian patent number. Respectively D.R.P. 167192, D.R.P. 184690 and AT 25487. Dating from about 1906, more information is already written at brass COLUMBUS BILATERAL, at the chrome COLUMBUS BILATERAL and also at the COLUMBUS mounted on the black glass plate. The name Columbus is at the black standard of the frame and the name is also casted into the ornamented cast iron base. The logo of Ph.J. Maul is not present at this little letter scale.
