DELUXE THRIFTY | IDL MFG. & SALES CORP., NEW YORK, U.S.A. is the maker of this army green letter scale. At the bottom of the front is printed: Made in U.S.A., also Not legal for use in trade and the US patent number 2588322. This patent is dated March 4, 1952 and is given to Clifford G. Herbst, of The Eastern Metalcraft Company, Incorporated, Waterbury, Connecticut. The range is 1 pound (LB) subdivided in steps of half ounces (oz). Beside the weight, extensive american postal rates are given at the scale front. The Air Mail rate of 6c was valid until 1955. Therefore this little letter scale dates from the period 1952-1955. | back of scale |
