This COLUMBUS bilateral was the successor of the largest bilateral scale of Philipp Jakob Maul, see here. That parcel scale was already in the Maul catalog of about 1910 and was described as novelty.
The parcel scale presented on this page has a De op deze pagina afgebeelde postweegschaal heeft a simpler base. The enamel scales are easy to read. The weighing range is 10 kilos, this is stated on the upperscale. The lower scale goes up to two kilos. This heavy scale is 29 centimeters high, as high as its predecessor. The size of the weighing platform is the same namely 18,5 x 26 cm. A the bottom of this page is a drawing of this mail scale as shown on a poster with products of Philipp Jakob Maul rom around 1925.
