Petrus 120 letter scale

This letter scale was made by Industrias Petrus S.A., from Barcelona in Spain. The measurement scale with postal rates is removeable, this specimen is especially for use in the Netherlands. The separate classification of postal tariffs in letters to the Benelux and in letters to Germany, Italy and France happened in the short period of 1968-1969. The rates are in parts of Dutch guilders. The weighing range is 500 grams. Up to 300 grams each five grams has a red stripe of measure. From 300 grams up to 500 grams there is a red stripe for each ten grams. In addition to the rate for letters, the price for sending printed matter and samples is also stated.
Petrus has made at least two other letter scale models. These models are more or less copied from other manufacturers. The Petrus 120 strongly resembles this American postal scale: the Hamilton 16.
