MITE letter scale

This blue metallic letter scale originates from the U.S.A. The scale reads: rates effective October 1, 1953. The domestic rates for letters of 3c per oz. was valid from July 6, 1932 till August 1, 1958. Along with the rates for letters the scale presents the rates for books and catalogs, merchandise and printing, newspapers and magazines, and air mail. Als a scale in ounces is given. The range is 16 ounces. The knob at the top of the housing is used for adjusting and zeroleveling. With the ribs in the plate it's easier to keep round objects on the plate.
