National egg grading scale | This vintage egg scale was made by the Rideau Specialty Company, of Smith Falls, Ontario, Canada. [Source: North American Egg Scales by Charley Amsbaugh]. The egg scale is quite rusty and the red paint is partly gone. Also a piece of the aluminum scale edge is gone. The scale model appears to be almost identical to this previously shown egg scale from the brand Unique. However, there are differences: the Unique's measuring scale also has a scale in points and the scale base of magnetic steel is only folded on the long sides. In the National, all four sides are folded. The attachment of the egg holder is also different; in the Unique, it is fixed with pop rivets to a one-piece aluminum stand. In the National, the stand is also made from one piece, but this is much less rigid and easier to deform. The egg holder is secured by folding the upright ends, this is also less solid. The base is 179 x 78 millimeters, the height 150 mm. Below some more images of this National egg scale. | back of the egg grading scale |
