a four piece blue desk set made by Jakob Maul from Zell, Germany |
JMAZ letter scale, maker Jakob Maul | This four-piece desk set was made by Jakob Maul from Zell in Germany. The parts are offered separately in the catalogue. Various combinations are possible. These desk items come in different colors. I saw versions in red and in black, both with nickel-plated edges. Also in gray-blue metallic with gold-colored edges, see this set. The blue version shown here I did not see before. Jakob Maul made several versions with his perpetual calendar and base for pens with or without inkwell. I miss catalogs of Jakob Maul to get a good overview. The inkwell lid was patented in 1931 with DE559383. I cannot find the German patent of this perpetual calendar. I can find the patent of a subsequent model that is described in DE954744 from 1956. This ink blotter has no logo or indication of DRGM or DRP. This letter scale model by Jakob Maul was protected in 1931 with patent DE555627 and in 1934 an addition was added with patent DE616859. The weighing range of this specimen is 250 grams. On the next page, see here there is a lighter version that weighs up to 100 grams. There is also a combination of the eternal calendar with a notepad. | back of the letter scale |
