The EXCELSIOR is a pendulum scale. It is also named a quadrant scale with fixed chart. I don't know (yet) if the EXCELSIOR by Ph. J. Maul has been described in a German patent, in a Deutsches Reich Patentschrift. Several different designs exist. Besides the blue specimen shown here, dark red ones are known. Also the form of the weighing plateau may differ. The range of the letter scale shown, is 0 - 250 grams. Others range up to 500 grams, or even up to 1000 grams.
