I don't know who manufactured this distinctive little letter scale for Rowenta. Rowenta itself did not manufacture this scale. It only was sold under the brand name of Rowenta. This name is applied to the back of the housing. The trade name ROWENTA is an acronym of the founders name RObert WEiNTrAud, this brand name exists since 1913. The height of this letter scale is just 8 centimeters. Looking at spelling of the unit of measurements -GRAMMES-, it was intended for the French market. The weighing capacity is 100 grammes. Per 5 grams a stripe of measure is set. Per 10 grams there are also figures. The left side of the chart equals the right side. The scale has remarkable stylish patterns at the sides and at the top of the plate. In Equilibrium, 1989 no. 3 at page 1263, figure 24 presents a similar little scale. The unit of measurement looks to be ounces. For the decoration one applied also the color blue, The period indicated for this scale is 1930s. I date it to the end of the thirties. In the journal of the German collectors Maß & Gewicht, No.102, juni 2012, at pp.2559-2560 there is an article: Briefwaagen von ROWENTA? written by Rudolf Wantoch. He dates the production of Rowenta scales to the period 1925-1935. The bottom of the Rowenta depicted here lacks a piece of cardboard covered with a felt top coating.
