Excelsior letter scale Ph.J. Maul
This wine red letter scale is made by Philipp Jakob Maul from Hamburg in Germany. There are also blue Excelsiors, see for example here and here. On the back of the frame is the Dutch text: voor huishoudelijk en kantoorgebruik, translated: for household and office use. The Excelsior model name is printed on the front. The scale goes up to 250 grams, with a stripe per five grams. The scale has a sturdy cast iron tripod base. With a set screw to set the pointer to zero.
