letter scale, maker unknown
the letter scale is 27.5 cm high

There is no brand or logo on this letter scale. Considering the mechanics and the use of materials, this scale comes from Germany. The scale goes up to 500 grams and has a stripe of measure per five grams. The unit of measure is marked with Gr. at the beginning of the scale. The value 15 grams is indicated separately. The value 15 is with numbers, otherwise only 0, 20, 50, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500. The intermediate values 150, 250, 350 and 450 only contain the number 50. For the inland mail in Germany the tariff limit switch from 15 to 20 grams was already made on 1 April 1900. The 15 gram limit value was only truly abolished internationally in the world postal treaty of January 1, 1922. This letter scale is 27.5 centimeters high. The round wooden base has been shown earlier with this scale. The same scale mechanism can be seen on another base, see here.
