letter scale by Philipp Jakob Maul, Hamburg

This letter scale was made by Philipp Jakob Maul from Hamburg in Germany. The M logo is on the right of the scale. Under that logo is the word "concav", which indicates that the scale is slightly skewed in relation to the vertical plane, making it easier to read. On the top of the black frame there is also a small M logo.
This letter scale has two weighing ranges: 50 grams and 250 grams. Switching the weighing range is done by raising or lowering the lever with the counterweight. The 50 grams scale has a line for every gram. a blocked second band also gives a five-gram distribution. The 250 grams scale has a line of measure per ten grams, a blocked second band also gives a five-gram distribution.
The scale has a fixed position in the scale frame. The location of the scale - as on a clock from 8 o'clock to 4 o'clock - has previously been shown with other letter scales, see for example this letter scale or this letter scale. The basis of the frame with two fixed supports and an adjustable support and a widening on which the vertical upright is riveted can already be seen with other letter scales, see for example the Reflex or this concav.
