THE UNIVERSAL LETTER SCALE

This letter scale wit the name THE UNIVERSAL LETTER SCALE is made by the firm CH. & Co., from London in England. The pointer probably depicts the head of the English Queen Elizabeth II. She became Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand on February 6, 1952. This letter scale will therefore date from after February 1952. This letter scale is a goose-neck model, several of which have already been shown on this site. The earlier scales of this "gooseneck" model are the silver one, the Let-R-Way, the Loth Parnell, the Lindells, the Svanström, the beer brewery Jacob Stauder, another Svanström, again a Parnell and the Swissair.
The design of this letter scale is very similar to a letter scale from the U.S.A. named THE FAMILY LETTER SCALE. It says maker W & K. MF'G CO. On its pointer is the head of the first US president, George Washington, I believe.
Both scales have a scale up to 6 ounces and the numerals are also the same: 0, ½, 1, ½, 2, ½, 3, 4, 5, 6.
A previous owner of my Universal Letter Scale added graduations for 20, 30, 40, and 50 grams.
